Abstract

Oil on canvas

22" x 28"

Heir is an intimate shrine-like arrangement conveying the moral dilemma of starting a family in the future. Rabbit motifs allude to the prototypical family fantasy versus the challenging realities created in the process by expensive and unequally accessible systems in place for parents and the burdens bestowed to some children by virtue of being born in the modern day. What will our children be exposed to and inherit? Does it mean anything if I decide to be the end of the line in my family, as the last member with the option to extend it? I'm not a nihilist, and despite the trials at any given point in human existence, I think it could be more relevant than ever to ask - how ethical will it be to raise kids in the future?
